presently reside: Flower Mound Birthday: November

Originally from: Tyler, Texas
Education Background: B.A. from Dallas Baptist
University in 1993. M.Div. in Biblical Languages from
Southwestern Seminary
Ministry Background: Minister of Missions at Lakeland
Baptist Church, Lewisville, Texas, 1995-96 · Senior
Pastor at NorthShore Church, 1996-present
My family: my wife, Brenda, and two
daughters, Kendra (19) and Amanda (22)
My role at NSC: I am the Senior Pastor and
founding Pastor of NorthShore. What a wonderful job! My
focus will be leading and teaching people to become all
that God wants them to be.
Personal Story: I spent over 16 years in business,
the last 12 as owner of the Pope Agency, a multi-million
dollar independent insurance agency in Tyler. In 1991, I
sensed God calling me into vocational ministry, so we
sold the business and moved to Dallas to go to school.
What a whirlwind! I finished 218 academic hours at D.B.U.
and Southwestern Seminary in just 3½ years! Since
NorthShores start, I have seen God blessing our
church in many ways. The future of NorthShore is bright
and I feel priviledged to be a part of Gods plan
for the church.
Spiritual Gifts: Teaching and Administration
I started working for
NSC: April 1996
Most fulfilling part of
my job: Seeing God
work His plan in and through the people Hes called
to NorthShore · Helping our church find out where
Hes working, so we can focus ourselves on His plan
Recent books I've
enjoyed: Contagious
Christianity by Bill Hybels and Mark Mittleberg, In
the Grip of Grace by Max Lucado and Rebel with a
Cause by Franklin Graham
What I want everyone to
know about NSC: That
we are a church that cares about people
Favorite book of the
Bible: Ephesians
My hobbies: golf, reading and cooking
I'd give anything to
meet: Apostle Paul.
Id love to hear about his commitment to Christ from
his own lips.
I hope heaven includes: Golf! Im content that
whatever God has in store for us in heaven, its
beyond anything we could imagine or hope for.
The smartest thing I've
ever done: First,
accepting Christ as both Lord and Savior of my life ·
Second, marrying Brenda on July 12, 1973
The dumbest thing I've
ever done: Trying to
drown a nest of wasp with a water hose. Im highly
allergic to bee stings, but, thankfully, my adrenaline
kicked in and I survived a potential disaster!
If I could live at any
point in history...
Today. There are move exciting things going on today than
ever before. It will be interesting to watch future
changes in technology, communications and sociology.
The best way to pray for
me: Pray that I will
cling to the Lord, faithfully seeking His will for my
life and the people of NorthShore · It is a great honor
to lead this group, but also an awesome responsibility ·
Pray for me as I lead our church forward
