Phil became a Christian as a result of a bus ministry that came to his Garland neighborhood when he was 10. This was also the year he began playing guitar.
In 1976 Phil's family moved to Plano, where he began playing guitar and bass in church. Later in high school he began playing with a local Christian band. His freshman year in college he met Felicia Melcer on a blind date set up by one of his band mates and her best friend. Six years to the day he married Felicia.
They moved to Lewisville and became active in youth and children's ministries at a local church. In 1997 Phil and Felicia began looking for a new church in the Flower Mound area where they had purchased a home. Luckily one of NorthShore's first mailers caught their eye and they decided to visit. Right away they knew that NorthShore was the place for them to continue their ministry and walk.
Phil began working with youth in the church, as well as playing with and eventually leading the band during Sunday morning worship. In August 2001 Phil felt the calling to become the Worship Arts Minister here at NorthShore Church and came on staff September 1, 2001.
Phil also teaches Radio Television Broadcasting at Frisco High School, but would like to continue full time leading worship and the technical aspects of ministry here.
