Kenny's Profile

Kenny Pope · Senior Pastor

NorthShore has landed! On Sunday, October 18th we took the first step towards "possessing" the land that God has given us. That day more than 150 people came out and celebrated on the church property for the first time. Together we committed ourselves to the plan and purpose God has for us here in Flower Mound. Our Offering of Commitment was $13,727! That was a historic moment in the life of NorthShore and I am thankful for all of those who helped make it a success. Thanks especially to Scott Lindsay who cooked the burgers and dogs for us.

Commitment Offering. Some have asked if they can continue to give to the commitment offering. The answer is yes. We will continue to receive offerings as long as people give and we’ll let you know what the final tally is. Remember, this offering is a sacrifice from a willing heart. It is a demonstration of what God is doing in our lives.

Schedule Changes. I announced a significant change while we were out at the church property. Beginning December 6th, we move to one Celebration Service at 10:30 a.m. and Bible GroupLife at 9:00 a.m. for all ages—from children to adults. A fully-staffed TeamKid program and nursery meets at 9:00 a.m., and then continues for ages birth through age 5 during the Celebration Service. Middle School and High School Students will move from the 10:30 a.m. hour to the 9:00 a.m. hour.

Why are we doing this? We have always said that our church is driven by purpose. If you have attended the NorthShore 101 class you will remember that I said there are five functions that our church needs to fulfill in order to be a healthy church. They are worship, evangelism, discipleship, ministry, and fellowship. One area that we have not addressed intensely (for various reasons) is discipleship. Up to this point we have relied on the teaching messages you hear each week and Small Group participation to help people grow in their faith. Now we need to take it to another level. This is the right time, and God has given us the leaders to do it. Make plans to attend Bible Study at 9:00 a.m. and then stay for the 10:30 a.m. Celebration Service.

Bible Study. Plan now to attend one of the Bible GroupLife classes at 9:00 a.m. You will have many options:

Couples Classes

Momentous Meeting! Plan to come to the November 5th New Community Service at First Baptist Church in Flower Mound. We will have singing and baptism and then move into a Special Church Meeting to make some critical decisions about NorthShore. All members and interested attenders should come to this meeting. A recommendation will come from the Dream Team regarding the schedule for building plans and the possibility of changing locations for Sunday services. We will also consider the need for a Children’s Minister. We need your input with these important decisions so I hope you will plan to be there.

Truth on Trial. We live in a world that says there is no absolute truth. People say truth is subjective and is left to your own interpretation. The Bible is God’s truth and we can depend on it. Beginning November 1st, I will start a five-part series called Truth on Trial. Come and hear God’s truth about our belief, God, pain, change, and worry.

I love you and thank God for letting me serve as your pastor. I’ll see you this Sunday as we continue to seek God’s best together.

Kenny
