Pope · Senior Pastor What are you thankful for?
We are entering the holiday season this month with our
hearts turned toward a God who deserves all our honor and
thanks. Most of the time we take for granted all that the
Lord gives to us. Let me tell you what Im thankful
for:
- I am thankful for a
wife that loves me and stands by me when things
are great and when they are not so great.
- I am thankful for two
daughters that love and honor their Dad.
- I am thankful for a
wonderful son-in-law and son (well,
practically!).
- I am thankful for a
new grandson that God has given us this year.
- I am thankful that
God has brought us to Flower Mound to start
- NorthShore.
- I am thankful for
willing and able leaders that do so much.
- I am thankful for
childrens workers and Inside Out group
leaders.
- I am thankful for the
faithful attendance of so many this past year.
- I am thankful to be
your Pastor.
Phil and Shelley
Richards have been friends of the Pope family since
1985. Shelley was pregnant with Allison when they joined
the small group I was leading at the time. One of the
greatest joys I have had is seeing the Richards family
mature in Christ. Phil is a godly husband and father.
Shelley is a godly mother and wife. When Phil came to
NorthShore in December 1996, before we had even held our
first service, he felt God leading him to go to seminary
and complete training for the pastoral ministry. Phil has
submitted his letter of resignation to pursue this call
on his life. It is with both sadness and excitement that
we accept his resignation effective December 31st. We
will give all of you an opportunity to demonstrate your
love for the Richards before they leave.
Mastering Your Money.
I will be completing an important series on godly money
management this week. We cannot let God have first place
in our lives without first giving Him control of our
finances. If you belong to God, it is only rational that
your money also belongs to God. Who is the Master of your
money?
Christmas is not X-mas
unless you make it that way. Christ is the reason for the
season. It is easy to focus our attention on all the
glitz and commercialism of Christmas. As believers we
need to make certain that Jesus is not just another part
of Christmas. He is Christmas. On November 30th, I
will begin a five-part series entitled "The Christ
of X-mas." Bring a friend as we look at what the
Bible says about Jesus birth.
Our Dream Team is
working hard to develop plans for NorthShores
19+ acre campus. We need $25,000 to draw up a preliminary
Master Plan. Some of this fee may be deferred until a
later stage, but we cannot authorize further work until
we have received most of these funds. If you can help,
please do so by checking "From Here to
Eternity" with the amount of your gift on your
offering envelope. All contributions to this fund are
used to maintain the church property loan and to develop
an architectural plan for that property.
Im looking
forward to seeing you this Sunday!
