The Drama Team Workshop was a great success! Sixteen people stumbled out of bed on Saturday morning, August 22nd, to hone their acting skills. The three-hour workshop was led by Lisa Young and Debbie Wall, drama directors at Southcliff Church in Fort Worth. I want to offer special thanks to them, and to the team they brought with them.

The workshop addressed the basics of acting and included some useful (and fun) exercises for our actors. Just ask Joel Plangman for a sample of his New York-Italian accent! All kidding aside, the workshop is a great starting point for involving new faces in our drama ministry. Keep watching for them over the next several weeks.

We’re committed to making our weekly sketches more effective and powerful. If you missed the workshop, don’t despair. Other training opportunities are on the way...

Who’s Playing the Keyboard? By now, you’ve seen Roman Flute playing the keyboard in our Sunday services. Doesn’t he have a wonderful talent? When he’s not playing around with MIDI instruments, Roman creates 3D computer graphics segments for television and film. When you can, offer a warm welcome to Roman, Suzy and Kendyl Flute.

You Can Be a Part of the Chorus! The NorthShore Chorus is preparing to sing for Fall Friend Day on September 20th and at Celebration Sunday on October 18th,, and we still need a few more voices. I hope you’ll consider joining us at one of our September rehearsals:

  • Thursday, September 10
  • Thursday, September 17

We meet at 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Flower Mound. First Baptist is located on Morriss Road (just head north on Morriss toward Marcus High School; First Baptist will be on your right).

Watch your mailbox for our September mailing. It should arrive in every Flower Mound home the week of September 13th, just in time to remind everyone about Friend Day.

Thanks to our Visual Team, and especially its leader, Deena Perrin. Deena is the inspiration behind our new visual for "Life’s Ultimate Questions." The "Riddler-in-the-Box" communicates the uncertainty with which many people live their lives. Thanks again, Deena. If you want to get involved with the visual team, give me a call at 355-7374.

If you have a creative or artistic gift, now is the time to use that gift for Christ. If you want to get involved in the arts, speak with me this Sunday!

The Drama Workshop was a refresher in the B.A.S.I.C.S. of acting. The group worked on memorization techniques, blocking, movement and trust.
