Kenny Pope · Senior Pastor

It’s Here! We will begin two Celebration Services this Sunday, September 7th. The times will be 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. Both of these services will be exactly the same, so choose the time that’s best for you. Consider working with children during one service hour and attending the service that meets at the other hour. Speak with Suzy Spencer about opportunities to serve in this area.

A New Series. Also this Sunday, I will begin a new seven-week message series entitled, "Facing Your Fears." All of us fear certain things. Our problem is that we generally don’t want to admit those fears. But God wants us to live our lives without fear. That’s what real "No Fear" living is all about. How do you do that? Bring your family and friends to the Celebration Service as we learn to face our fears together.

Mike Harrison. Christian Ministry Pastor Mike Harrison needs our help. Many of you know that he has had several strokes over the past few months. This has kept Mike from most of his ministry duties. Mike has been working with NorthShore on a volunteer basis, supporting his family through an outside job. This past month, his doctor told him he would have to stop working completely, for at least 3-4 months. Because he has exhausted his sick leave from his company, Mike and Connie need our financial help. I want to ask you to consider a financial contribution to the Harrison’s. You can do that by marking on your check or offering envelope "Mike Harrison." We will see that he and his family receives it. Some of you will want to make a one-time gift. Others may want to give a weekly or monthly gift. Do what God leads you to do. I thank you for your generosity and faithfulness and I know that Mike and Connie will feel God’s love through you.

Here We Go Again. We have another land payment due on September 30th. There is a shortage of almost $10,000! You responded to this need in June and we need to do it again. You may ask, "Are we always going to be short on our land payment?" The answer is, "I hope not." Historically, the summer months are always a time when ministry expenses are higher for a church and the giving is down. It is also unusual for a new church to have such a large land payment without the benefit of any outside support from other churches or Christian organizations. Having said that, I want toemphasize that God has blessed us immeasurably. Our giving has been outstanding for an eight-month old church. I believe that our finances will become less an issue beginning in the fall. Thank you for your faithful giving.

September Is a Month to Remember. Besides the new schedule, we will have a special service to dedicate new children on September 14th. On September 21st, I will be conducting another NS 101 class. We have had great participation at these classes and God is using them to bring people to Him and His church.

September 28th is Friend Day. I am asking every person to attend that day and bring an unchurched friend. A personal invitation to NorthShore from one of us is the best way to introduce our friends to Jesus Christ. Think about a friend or neighbor you can invite on that day. Pray for them, invite them and bring them. We’ll enjoy grilled burgers and tube steak, and some great fellowship, following the 10:30 a.m. service. It will be a great day at NorthShore.

Thank You for Your Commitment to Christ and His Work. I look forward to seeing you this Sunday (twice!) with anticipation of what He is going to do. May God’s peace control your life...
