Student Ministry

I presently reside: North Dallas (Carrollton)

Birthday: November 29, 1968 (but I am officially not counting anymore)

Originally from: Big D, born and raised!!

Education Background: B.A. in Religion from Oklahoma Baptist University (Shawnee) in 1991; M.A. in Religious Education from Southwestern Seminary (Fort Worth) in 1995.

My family: my wife Kathy and daughter Macey (2)

My role at NSC: Student Ministry Pastor

Personal Story: While living an unfulfilling life of pleasing myself and playing church on the weekends, I had a youth pastor who really reached out to me in spite of myself. Not only did that change my life, but it gave me a new purpose to see the same thing happen in other peoples’ lives. My life is now dedicated to doing the best I can to be in the center of God's will and to help others to desire the same.

Spiritual Gifts: Leadership, Mercy and Teaching

I started working for NSC: September 1999

Most fulfilling part of my job: To see students become excited about their relationship with God, using their gifts and talents to honor Him

Recent books I've enjoyed: Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom (with my daughter, of course), Finishing Strong by Steve Farrar and Purpose-Driven Youth Ministry by Doug Fields

What I want everyone to know about NSC: That it is a warm, friendly place where love for God and people is expressedy

Favorite book of the Bible: Acts

My hobbies: golf, drums, guitar and basketball

I'd give anything to meet: Bill Bates (former player and current coach for the Dallas Cowboys)

I hope heaven includes: all my friends, family and the students I've worked with

The smartest thing I've ever done: Giving up my life of wild, reckless and selfish decisions and turning it over to the One who created life (which led to salvation and, OF COURSE, to marrying my beautiful bride, Kathy, and to the birth of our littile girl, Macey)

The dumbest thing I've ever done: In the 5th grade, I went to take off my warm-up pants over in the coat racks in the back of the room to get ready for recess and realized that I had forgotten to put on my shorts that morning. Needless to say, I felt a little draft and a few classmates got a little laugh.

If I could live at any point in history... I think it would have been cool to observe Jesus on any day of his life on earth.

The best way to pray for me: Pray for my sanity—that the students won't tie me up and paint me red. Seriously, that God would give me wisdom and strength to lead a ministry for students that is relevant, exciting and life changing.
